Fata Morgana
Fata Morgana (a dream or mirage) is a mountain top Moroccan style palacial residence and gardens, situated high above the San Lorenzo valley, in central Ibiza, a few minutes drive from San Lorenzo village, with amazing panoramic views to the coast and on to Formentera.
The Main house forms the shape of a large a cross, with the focal point being the Central Courtyard. The Courtyard and 12 x 5 metre swimming pool form the fulcrum for the rest of the house, with all rooms and areas leading from it. It is a reproduction of the Mosque of Zebid, in Yemen and is a fine example of vernacular architecture.
From one of the exits leading from the courtyard takes you through to the water gardens where your first sight will be the small lake and Tea-House. In front of the main part of the house is the impressive 20 x 12 metre swimming pool. This has an infinity edge which creates a wonderful contrast with the spectacular view of central Ibiza, and on to the neighbouring island of Formentera. To the left of the pool is a large sun terrace and a Bedouin Style tent with a dining table to seat 16. There are two further dining tables under a Wooden Pagoda just outside the Kitchen on the right side of the property looking on to the Tea House.
The Tea-House is a domed, octagonal, open sided structure surrounded by a small lake and is accessed by crossing a small footbridge. It is a wonderful space to sit and chat, lose your self in a book, or as the name implies, take tea in the afternoon, in the gentle mountain breeze. It is a very romantic spot and has been used for Weddings and Christenings.
Further on past the Tea-House and lake are the formal Moorish Gardens. These have typical boxed style hedging and lollipop shaped orange trees. Three small fountains and a line of aquamarine tiles, form a water run from the Teak Pagoda from the end of the Garden, back to the Lake and Tea-House. Again, the wooden Pagoda is a delightful place to sit, taking in a completely different view of the valley, looking towards Santa Eularia.
The House itself is comprised of a fully fitted kitchen, a large sitting room, master bedroom with en-suite bath and shower, all of which over look the main pool and view to the valley below. On the other side of the central courtyard are one double bedroom with en-suite shower and toilet, a large double suite with en-suite jacuzzi, shower and toilet and two further double bedrooms with a shared en-suite shower and toilet dividing the rooms ( perfect for a family ). Finally, on the outside of the house is a double bedroom with en-suite shower and toilet. All of the rooms are furnished with the finest materials and fabrics.
The house sleeps 12 in total, but has dining facilities for up to 16 in a Bedouin style tent, up to 20 under the Pagoda,8 in the Courtyard, and 8 inside in the Kitchen.
All rooms are air-conditioned and wireless ADSL Internet access is available. Full Sky TV packages are available in the Lounge and Master bedroom suite, and music can be piped throughout Lounge, Kitchen, Courtyard and Master bedroom.
The owners provide a maid service every day with a full linen change every three days.
